On tour, Peter Kingsbery is spent on Friday evening by Prémontrés. He made turn over the heart of 200 fans with an intimist concert under the vaults of the dining hall of the monks changed into theatre. We met him, he said everything to us.Cock Robin, mythical group of the 80s in left by tracks in all memories. Today, his leader, Peter Kingsbery, sings solo, for a public completely conquered by the qualities of this artist in the voice which is warm in the heart. He has just begun a tour in France which ends on November 17th in Nantes, then he will cross Germany. On Thursday he belonged to Talange, on Friday evening he made a stopping place for Pont-à-Mousson in a place so mythical: the Abbey of Prémontrés. Interview with an American who adopted France, its culture and his language. -The
Republican inhabitant of Lorraine: "
between Cock Robin and Peter Kingsbery, the style is not any more the
same. How do you explain this transition ? " -Peter Kingsbery: there is a difference because Anna La Cazio (editor's note: her friend of childhood who sang with him previously) is now absent. I thus wrote for a duet but today I write for a single man. We also live in an another time. I changed my songs while keeping my spirit. Finally, I evolve as any artist otherwise we so much have to make occasions. -R. L.: your songs make feel a certain intimacy. Is it the expression of a new Peter Kingsbery ? -P.K.: when I met myself free, I wanted that we discover my personality and especially, I wanted to break the traditional chain. I explain. Most of the singers write their songs, record them and leave for tour to make the promotion. By breaking this chain, I decided to write then to produce me in concert. Moreover, the songs which I interpret are on no album. It is a way of trying my songs before recording them. Then, I chose to make a unique tour. Unique because I wish to have a more intimate public. -R. L: you pass in transit now between France and the United States. Why to have chosen France ? -P.K.: Why I came in France ? Simply because I always had the desire to speak about French and to discover the culture of this country. At the school, I have never had the luck to learn a language but now it is made thing. I remember the first time when I arrived here, I was as a child in one shops of candies. In fact, I fell in love with France. I always have a house in Los Angeles but I found an apartment in Paris in the XIVth district. -R.L.: Why did you choose small rooms to occur ? -P.K.: I play with an experimental forming and I remain sat during concerts. I thus needed small rooms where the atmosphere is very intimate. Besides, it allows me to gather(reunite) my most devoted fans. -R. L: and Pont-à-Mousson ? -P.K.: I had no time to visit. We directly went to the abbey. But, there is nothing to say, this monument is magnificent and the reception is formidable. I believe that I am the most fortunate man of the planet. |
