This time I was seated - thanx to
BNet 1st balcony 1st row, perfect view - I'm not quite sure what I prefer.
Floor means more atmosphere, being more involved, seated is more relaxed,
a better overview ... but forcing my girlfriend for the 1st time to join
me at a bowie concert, seated was a good choice (to anticipate any
question - she was blown away!).
Again Dandy Warhols did an uninspired
setlist, this time even the sound was bad. But Bowie (who started quite
early at 8:45) rocked the house from the very first tune. The response
from the audience was great, they followed any song both new and old. I
don't know if I missed it before, but Sterling Campbell did a incredible
performance, especially when it came to 'Hallo Spaceboy'. Again a terrific
vocal performance by Gail Ann Dorsey on 'Under Pressure', 'Battle for
Britain' added to the setlist again but - that's the only lowlight -
'Loving the alien' was skipped. As in Rotterdam, the highlights (when it
comes to the audience response) were 'Hallo Spaceboy', 'Under Pressure',
'Heroes' (which imo opinion works in Germany better than anywhere else),
'Slip away', 'Suffragette city' and 'Ziggy Stardust'. But again - judging
from reviews, the Hamburg audiences response two night ago has been
reserved sometime (especially when he didn't play the 'old' classics) -
this never happened in Frankfurt. Even the (very few) more obscure songs
('The motel', 'Battle for Britain', 'Bring me the disco king') and the new
ones got an overwhelming welcome.
P.S.: Judging from all performances
before, my favourite song of the album - 'Never get old' - in my
opinion didn't work live. This changed dramatically yesterday - imo the
best performance of this song ever!
