08.12.2003: DAVID BOWIE FORCED TO POSTPONE BOSTON AND PHILDAELPHIA SHOWS THIS WEEK ON NORTH AMERICAN LEG OF HIS 'A REALITY TOUR' DUE TO CONTINUED BOUT WITH FLU

DAVID BOWIE has been forced to postpone two additional shows on the North American leg of his "A Reality Tour" as doctors have ordered him to remain in bed for a few days longer while he shakes the flu. Fans who were planning to attend these two shows—Boston – Tuesday, Dec. 9th – FleetCenter, and Philadelphia – Dec. 10 – First Union Spectrum (in addition to the previously postponed Atlantic City and Washington performances) --should retain their tickets until a new show date is announced. Tickets for the previously scheduled performances will be honored at the rescheduled events.

BOWIE is coming off a sold-out and critically acclaimed tour of Europe and the U.K. in connection with his current album REALITY, which debuted in the #1 position on Billboard’s Pan European chart and entered the Top 10 in 15 countries. Yesterday, he was honored with a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for "New Killer Star," a track from REALITY and a highlight of the live show.

It is expected that BOWIE will now launch his North American tour Friday, December 12th in Toronto.

DAVID BOWIE has been forced to postpone the first two shows of the North American leg of his "A Reality Tour" this weekend, as doctors have ordered him to remain in bed for a number of days until he shakes the flu. Fans who were planning to attend these two shows--December 6 (Atlantic City, NJ, The Borgata) and December 7 (Washington, D.C., Patriot Center)--should retain their tickets until a new show date is announced. DAVID BOWIE ‘A REALITY TOUR’ UK & EUROPE 2003
In his most extensive trek in more than a decade, Bowie's A Reality world tour will begin Oct. 7 at the Forum in Copenhagen and hit Europe, the U.S., Australia, and Japan before wrapping in March 2004

The A Reality tour will support a new Columbia release set for September, which is also the month U.S. tickets will first go on sale. European on-sales begin the weekend of June 20, with the Dandy Warhols as support.

Bowie will play 30 arenas in Europe; North American dates are tentatively set to begin Dec. 4 and run through January. In the U.S., he will play a combination of full arenas, large theaters, and theater configurations in arenas, depending on Bowie's history in a given market, according to Arthur Fogel, president of touring for CCE's music division.

The tour will visit 17 countries throughout six or seven months, including Bowie's first trip Down Under since the late 1980s.

Bowie's touring band is guitarists Gerry Leonard and Earl Slick, drummer Sterling Campbell, bassist/backing vocalist Gail Ann Dorsey, keyboardist Mike Garson, and keyboardist/backing vocalist Catherine Russell.
